 The Elements of The TAZ "We are looking for 'spaces' (geographic, social, cultural, imaginal) with potential to flower as autonomous zones... reaction alone cannot provide the energy needed to 'manifest' a TAZ. An uprising must be for something as well." What is the substance of the TAZ? How will it blossom? The essential ingredients already exist around us; we must simply learn to forget the myths that make us sleepwalk through our new environment. An exploration of the basic elements of TAZ yields (but is not limited to) the following: Tribe: The base unit of the TAZ does not depend on the blood ties of family or the ink lines of nationality; it is a functional bond of affinity existing within and beyond the traditional obligations of kin and caste. It is time to explode the envelope of xenophobic scarcity and wallow in the relative abundance of L-O-V-E for the Other. The Tribe is reborn in the midst of Babylon and it is US. Festival: It is time to party... the true Festival emerges spontaneously from the ashes of forced celebration encouraged by the rigid grip of Holy-daze.
