The TAZ is not a blueprint for the future or a shadow from the past; the TAZ exists NOW in the blindspots of Control. The TAZ is art, but its also Life As Art. Its politics are the politics of ecstacy; its preconditions are as follows: Psychological Liberation: It is time to let go of the petty anxieties and stresses inspired by the Empire. Self-repression and alienation are just ways to dig your own grave. Autonomy is right in front of you; all you have to do is tune out the Machine and grab it! Expansion of Counternet: The Web operates as an extension of our nervous systems. It allows us to reach out and gather the information and materials necessary for autonomy. The further the Web stretches, the greater the potential for the TAZ. Withering of the State: This process is already in motion; as the Simulation becomes less of a map and more of a mask, the very foundations of the Empire will rot. The TAZ sidesteps the carcass of the State and, holding its nose, call for the start of the Celebratory Dance. The real Joy, of course, is in the Trip. The TAZ is a process, a transformation, an awakening. You are already right where you need to be; put on the Jester's cap, take a deep breath, and enjoy the Ride.
